Idiotic Anti-Gun Headline Of The Week: Women And Guns, Edition

If you believe many of the recent headlines gracing our screens, guns make women less safe. In fact, if you believe the garbage being spewed by the anti-gunners, women never defend themselves with guns. At all. Ever. Well, there were these 15 times back in 2014 they're willing to admit to, but that's about it. During those 15 reported incidents, the woman killed the attacker. That'll be key to our argument, later on.

Before we discuss the false narrative, however, I wanted to say “good job” to the woman in Georgia who, just this past week, defended herself against three men who broke in to her house with the intent to hurt her. She put one of them out of society's misery for good, and likely gave the other two a good reason to not bully an unsuspecting, little Asian lady, ever again.

Again, good for her.

What happened in Georgia with this lady a few nights ago is the truth of women protecting themselves with a gun. A gun is meant to be a great force equalizer, whenever deadly force is justified by law.

However, it can go both ways. Women can, and often are, killed by criminals with a gun more often than with other weapons. Guns are often the weapon of choice for criminals because they are effective. This is the same reason why I carry a gun for self-defense instead of a club. After all, it's not a good idea to bring a club to a gun fight. Plus, it's just an easy tool to use. Unlike the gun-grabbers on the left side of the isle, I'm willing to actually do whatever I can to help these women in any way possible—to include the desire to empower a woman with the ability of self-defense against anyone who may try to hurt her.

It's funny how the two sides of the gun-control debate seem to clash over “statistics” and “facts.” It's also funny how the “facts” uttered by those who dislike guns don't add up to anything more than puke. The latest study, which is being shared as Gospel by all gun haters, says that over 1,600 women were killed by familiar men in 2014. Also according to the study, these women had guns in the home. Therefore, they say, guns cannot make women safer.

First off, I'm sad for each one of those 1,613 women who lost life during 2014. But I'm also glad for the women who were able to properly defend themselves with a gun. Remember, the study in question claims there were only 15 incidents (we know it's a lot higher than that, because you don't have to shoot someone with your gun for it to be considered self-defense).

Further than that, the study depicts those 15, as women who killed their attacker with their gun. Most of the time, as the study showed, the gun of choice was a handgun.

Maybe most people don't know this, but many handgun rounds are incredibly insufficient for killing people, especially when the stress takes over. Can handgun cartridges kill? Absolutely. Then again, if you poke someone with a stick enough times, they could die, too.

What's the point?

A lot of the time, people don't die from handgun wounds, and, if they're only reporting on people who died—the study is false. To make it worse, it's likely false on purpose to push the anti-gun agenda.

Also in an attempt to push the anti-gun agenda is the simple fact that only bits and pieces are taken out from the study and put into the various media articles. For example, something they fail to mention, is that this type of woman homicide is actually down by 31% since 1996. To say the least, that's interesting. Don't believe me? It's in their words:

“This is the 19th edition of When Men Murder Women. From 1996 to 2014, the rate of women murdered by men in single victim/single offender incidents dropped from 1.57 per 100,000 women in 1996 to 1.08 per 100,000 women in 2014, a decrease of 31 percent.”

Whoda thunk? I wonder if there is any correlation to the NSSF's study about there being more female gun owners than ever before. These are the ladies who are willing to stand up to people they know, and don't know, to protect themselves. According to NSSF, there has been a 60% increase in female target shooters from 2001 to 2013.

I, personally, find it interesting that there has been such a large increase in the number of lady shooters, while a large decrease in the amount of victims took place simultaneously.

Coincidence? I think not!

Perhaps, to get a clearer picture of women defending themselves with a gun, we need to travel over to a website where this sort of thing is showcased. This way, we can see and read first hand, just how women deal with these situations. The Well Armed Woman is one of the best places to do that.
