Stoeger Longfowler | Gun Carrier Shotgun Reviews

The Stoeger Longfowler is another traditional shotgun manufactured by Beretta Holdings. Relive the days of the fowling guns when hunting was more of a quest for food than just shooting for sport.

Stoeger Longfowler: A Classic Duck Gun

The Stoeger Longfowler is a revamped version of a remarkable shotgun made by the same company. If you're familiar with Stoeger firearms, you'll notice its resemblance to the Stoeger Uplander. In fact, the Longfowler is a reworked version of the Uplander. With a few modifications to enhance the already notable older version, this gun company made another successful step in promoting classic design shotguns. Stoeger industries seem to have figured out a brilliant marketing plan for these products which are sourced all the way from the southernmost state of Brazil.

This gun has a 30-inch barrel length which comes in side-by-side and over/under features. Like the Uplander, it's also a 2-shot capacity shotgun available in 12 and 20 gauge matte blue finish. It has brass bead sights, walnut stocks, and all the other components making an overall weight of 7 to 7.5 pounds. This modified version features a single trigger as opposed to the old double, as well as improved corrosion-resistant materials.

Ease of Use and Performance

The Longfowler's semi-pistol grip gives shooters comfort and allows better control. Its capability of downing ducks at less ideal conditions makes this gun even more accurate in the shooting range. At a capacity of only two shots, you have to know what you're doing with this gun so as not to waste an opportunity in the hunting grounds.

Pros and Cons

Allowing a couple of options by producing both side-by-side and over/under barrel features is one thing I give credit to the manufacturers of this gun. I also like the installation of rubber buttpads Stoeger used to replace those thin plastic ones. Although this is an old gun design, it would have been a wonderful idea to incorporate automatic shell removal during break open.

Overall Verdict and Price

There is no doubt about this being another great shotgun purchase. At $450 you get a beautiful traditional gun form, nice upgrades, and a gun tough as nails made for the rugged fowl hunting conditions. It's also great for home defense, and the price compels me to purchase a firearm.

Here's a short video of the Stoeger Longfowler series shotguns:

The Longfowler simply adds to the list of brilliant ideas from its manufacturers. I purchased the Uplander a few years back and I just love swinging the gun as it smoothly rests in firing position. Well, it's not really a necessary thing to do in the hunt. But when you have one of these guns at your disposal, my advice is to try it and just have fun.
