Here is another sober reminder for us gun-toting patriots with kids.
Jamie Gilt, a 31 year old mother of a four year old boy, was shot by her child while driving her pickup truck/horse trailer combo yesterday, March 9th. Sadly, she was shot in the back by her very own son. She is reportedly in stable condition, and it is unclear at this point whether or not charges will be pressed.
The woman is said to be a pro-gun advocate who has several pro-gun posts and pictures on her Facebook page. Gun Carrier tried to access her social media site, but it seems as though someone has taken it down, or has at least restricted access to it. However, here are some borrowed pictures of her page:
The event took place less than 24 hours after she made a Facebook post that purportedly reads: ‘Even my 4 year old gets jacked up to target shoot with the .22'. Though, because we couldn't access her page, we cannot confirm this information.
The gun the boy used to shoot his mother was chambered in .45 ACP, and could be the Kimber Custom that was pictured on her social media page, which is not the .22 that the boy is used to. The boy retrieved the gun from the back seat, pointed it at his mother, and pulled the trigger. Thankfully, the little boy was not hurt. He will, however, have to live with the fact that he shot his mother in the back.
The deputy Sheriff who was the first one on the scene said that the boy was not restrained in his booster seat at his arrival. However, we'd like to point out that this was after the fact, and that it is unclear at this point whether or not the boy un-buckled himself to get the gun, or if it was laying on the seat next to him.
This is a sad story for this family, and for the gun community at large. As a reminder, please keep your guns away from your young children. Please let us know what you think about this story in the comments below.
