San Bernardino Supervisor To Residents: Apply For Concealed Carry Permit
Published
2 years agoon
In an odd turn of events, someone with some common sense, straight out of California, has said what we've been thinking all along.
The supervisor for San Bernardino is urging residents to get a concealed carry permit and start carrying for self-defense, just in case lightning strikes twice. After the horrid attacks in San Bernardino, it seems as if some people are waking up to smell the coffee. Robert A Lovingood, a supervisor from the county that bears the city's name, went on record in an article he wrote stating that having more armed people is a good thing, when it comes to self-defense.
He went on to state that, in addition to all of the measures taken by the local government to increase patrols and strengthen private security, residents should try to get their concealed carry permits just in case there was another attack. In fact, his exact words were, “Empowering the people to protect themselves is a good place to start.”
Of course, even thought they've hired more security personnel, they can't be everywhere at once, this guy gets that.
And then he said: “That’s why I am advocating for a policy change to allow volunteers among the County’s workforce to be trained and authorized to carry concealed weapons and have access to weapons at County facilities.” We at Gun Carrier think that is an awesome start, and one that we would hope to see across the country.
He went on to say that “responsible, law-abiding citizens” should also apply for a concealed carry permit through the local Police Department. It should be noted here, that California has some of the toughest gun control laws in the country, and getting firearms and the permit required to carry a gun isn't an easy task.
He did, however, want to make it clear that this wasn't a “call for vigilantism.” Rather, it is a call for self-defense. Of course, that's what we are all after anyway. Personally, I have no desire to play Batman. All I want to do is protect those who are dearest to me.
He ends his argument with one of the best quotes I've ever read from from someone in a position of leadership:
“Gun-free zones can’t provide protection from killers. And killers are the problem, not good, honest, responsible people who are armed. When every second counts, well-trained, armed citizens can save lives. In the recent surge of terrorist stabbings in Israel, the government encouraged citizens to carry firearms under the law. That has been an effective deterrent.”
Well said, sir. Well said. Please spread your knowledge around, so that it may catch on.
