I think Sig P365XL is one of the best for any set. It gold 12 or 15 with extended mag. It’s compact and light. The grip is a great size. Their action are flawless and the groupings are in a less than 2″. I do agree that racking these guns can be an issue for women sometimes and that’s why it can bedo e I. The front or back. The next best is a revolver and not one where the hammer must be pulled back each time.

Some women and even some men can’t ratchet the autos because of arthritis in their hands. Therefore, a revolver is the only way to go except for home defense where you can use an AR (which I don’t like) or a Mini-14. Of course, a handgun would probably be easier. BTW, even a .22 would be better than nothing. More people have been killed by .22s than any other caliber.

I have a logical PRIORITY in choosing a handgun for a woman to protect her life with. MAGAZINE CAPACITY! Law enforcement officials train to put eight rounds into a threat to make sure it is STOPPED! A woman alone could be dealing with multiple threats across the short distance of a room, and it is possible that she might not have the strength to push off a threat that reaches her and is grabbing at her. Five shot revolvers and small 6 + 1 autos are OUT. Something like a G26 is perfect 10+1 and small enough to carry and at home at night will accept a 15 or 17 or 33 round magazine. I mean, if you REALLY want to be serious about surviving a life threatening situation like a home invasion. Most women I know have much more of a need to keep the threat away, and needing to reload after a few shots probably means the end of being able to defend yourself. Physically fit law enforcement officials carry high capacity magazines, to be limited to 10 round magazines would put their lives in danger, so they say, and they are exempt from “gun control laws” for that reason. They don’t carry six-guns because – NOT ENOUGH BULLETS – SLOW TO RELOAD.
I would suggest to a woman I know – while home alone – to have a 15 round 9mm magazine – 13 round .45 magazine minimum – each with a barrel length long enough to generate the velocity needed for the ammunition to expand and penetrate like it is supposed to.
