Speed Loading Tips | How To Use .223/5.56 Stripper Clips
Believe it or not, these speed loading tips using stripper clips can guarantee you more shooting time in range. Sounds interesting? A lot of people will say stripper clips are pointless, a waste of time, or might as well just put them in the magazine. This is somewhat true, but what people don’t understand is they are supposed to load the stripper clips while they are home, sitting around doing nothing or maybe watching some TV shows. Anytime you have a spare moment, you can load your stripper clips. This way, you will have full stripper clips ready whenever you need them. Below are speed loading tips to correctly use a .223/5.56 speed loader.
Speed Loading Tips: Rapid Reload with a Stripper Clip
1. How Much Can One Hold?
You can put 10 rounds on a stripper clip and if you have 100 stripper clips you can have 1,000 rounds readily accessible for when you go out shooting. If you have to say 5, 30-round magazines, you can reload them 6 times with some left over.
2. Loading the Stripper Clip
On the stripper clip, there is a tab on each end of the clip. Close one end and leave the other end open. Now you take a bullet and slide it onto the clip until it is against the closed tab. Do this nine more times and there you have 10 bullets on your stripper clip. Be sure to close the tab that was on the open end so they do not fall out.
3. How to Use a Spoon/Speed Loader
Now you take your 5.56 loader spoon also called a speed loader or a charger. The stripper clip goes right into a spoon. So when going to load your magazines, put the spoon in the mag and then put your stripper clip on. Once the mag loader spoon and stripper clip is in place, simply force the rounds in. You have to apply some force to break the tab and let the rounds in the mag. It is going to be a little tough but a manageable one.
4. Loading the Magazine with a Stripper Clip
Now take your thumb and push your rounds into the magazine. Some people use a table to push the rounds into the mag but if you are in the field, you might not have a table to use so I always practice with my thumb. Use as many stripper clips as you need depending on the size of your magazine.

One may argue that it is unnecessary to use stripper clips and it is quicker to load directly to the magazine. Yes, this may be true in a way, but during your downtime, you can load these stripper clips and reload it into your magazines quickly. This will allow you more time in the range to shoot instead of spending it by filling up your mags.

It’s pretty funny when some ignorant liberal calls a cartridge a “bullet”, but shameful when someone that is a supposed expert on guns does it! Same is true when a semi-automatic rifle is routinely called a “assault weapon !

I ordered a speed loader from Maglula that is based on these tool. If I had done my research better, I would have just bought clips and the loading spoon. Oh, well. Either way I’m saving my thumbs. 🙂

The advantage in using stripper clips is that you can have them all loaded, while at the same time saving the springs in your Magazines.I remember the first magazines sold by Colt for the M-16, you could not load it with 20 rounds, because of spring weakness. While today the magazine springs are greatly improved, it’s still a good idea not to store them for a long time Loaded….MK

I agree , I have heard many stories and People that swear it makes no difference and then You have what they call indefinite storage , But a spring that does not eventually loose it`s spring does not exist

Most 420 round cans come on stripper clips and more then once I have found a second spoon or mag loader in the can , They also work on P-Mags and other larger capacity mags
