No-Permit Concealed Carry Now in Maine: A 2A Win?

No-Permit Concealed Carry Approved by Senate in Maine

Many of us preppers carry a gun for self-defense. Depending on where you live, you may have to jump through a lot of hoops to do so legally.

But that is not the case in Maine anymore. Maine used to be a “shall issue” state for concealed carry.

Starting October 15, 2015, there is no longer a need for a permit to carry a firearm as long as the gun carrier has legal rights to do so to include being at a concealed carry age.

On May 28 the Maine Senate approved a bill which would allow concealed carry without a permit. The existing permitting system would stay in place since the permits are recognized as valid by some other states.

Maine law already permits individuals to carry firearms openly in most public places where guns are not explicitly prohibited.

Lawmakers supporting the bill argued that current law does little to prevent criminals from carrying concealed weapons and that law-abiding gun owners should not be criminalized for hiding firearms.

Will the Other States Follow?

Unfortunately, with the recent shooting incidents in El Paso and Dayton, we won't be seeing the light of day with the other states any time soon. MSM and anti-2As wasted no time to politicize the sad incidents when there were more shooting incidents in Chicago during the same time.

In fact, the horrific incident further fueled their agenda for more gun control and stricter concealed carry laws. Hopefully, the current executive and legislative body can come up with concrete solutions without infringing our rights to bear arms.

With the current political environment, we will be hearing and seeing less and less (I guess) of this positive news on the 2nd amendment. Yet, we have a President now who's big on the 2nd amendment and with two SCOTUS picks (despite the huge odds) we can put a halt on people trying to take away our rights, for now.

The permit was given by God and can’t be taken away so says the 2nd Amendment in The Bill of Rights. That is the only permit We The People need. Just sayin…

One should never have to register a gun. All the permit does is identify those who the Gesthapo will come for first

“As Maine goes, so goes the nation.”-an old political saying referring to elections, which may be just as applicable today on this issue Let’s hope cc passes.

In Michigan it is fairly easy to get CPL but no CPL would sure be a lot better. Never been to Maine but may have to consider it. Unbelievable, government officials with a few brains. Hope it’s contagious.

While Colorado isn’t new York, it isn’t Maine (or Arizona) either.

We did recall a couple of State Senators and representatives, to no avail. We still can’t have normal capacity magazines, and other infringements on our God-gioven right to self-defense abound.

I worked to make the state senate a GOP-led body. Made no difference. Can’t (reasonably) move, but will continue to make whatever difference I can.

Mr. Magoo O’bama, will there ever be any Jobs?
