The Libertarian Ticket’s Stance On Guns:

A while back, I wrote an article about Donald Trump’s stance on guns. If you haven’t yet read that one, I suggest you do because it is very enlightening. At that time, Donald hadn’t yet named his VP pick so I was unable to write about what the republican ticket (as a whole) thinks about guns. Not so this time around with Gary Johnson and Mike Weld.

A while back, I wrote an article about Donald Trump's stance on guns. If you haven't yet read that one, I suggest you do because it is very enlightening. At that time, Donald hadn't yet named his VP pick so I was unable to write about what the republican ticket (as a whole) thinks about guns. Not so this time around with Gary Johnson and Mike Weld.

Remember, no matter who you vote for, you get a president and a vice who may eventually replace their boss if something bad happens to him (or her), or if he (or she) gets really stupid (like Nixon did) and steps down. We need to know, where they stand on guns. This is what I found:

The first place I looked, was on the Johnson/Weld website. On the page where guns are listed, along with a few other issues, both of their names (Johnson and Weld) appear next each one, ultimately explaining why they feel the way they do on those other issues. Except, of course, when they get to guns. When they get to that topic, Gary Johnson's name is mentioned as supporting the individual right to bear arms. Bill Weld's name is not mentioned like it is in the other points, leading us to believe that Weld does NOT hold the same views on the Second Amendment that his presidential hopeful does.

Interestingly enough, they appear to differ greatly on the subject of whether or not someone should be allowed to have a gun for self-defense (though Weld may have flip-flopped, now that he's a libertarian VP nominee).

I just can't shake this feeling, however, that the former Massachusetts governor is an anti-gunner, in a not so brilliant disguise. After all, he pushed some of the strictest gun measures, ever, through that state when he was in charge. To make matters even worse, he endorsed Barry O back in 2008. You don't have to be an elephant to remember what our current golfer in chief has done for our gun rights.

Plus, even though he speaks about having changed his gun-grabbing ways, when he talks he is nightmarishly anti-gun. He recently said this: “That’s when they become essentially a weapon of mass destruction.” and this: “The problem with handguns is probably even worse than the problem of the AR-15 …”

What's the point? Do your research and know who you're voting for before you get to the booth. I know for a fact that many of our readers are one issue voters. That issue is guns, which is the only reason why I'm writing this article right now. People are allowed to change their minds and make mistakes, but it's hard to decipher if that's what happened with the VP candidate. I'm having a hard time reconciling what Weld did during his time as the governor of Massachusetts, his quotes above, and saying that he's pro-gun, now.

The verdict? I believe they are split down the middle. Gary Johnson will have the power of president if elected, but the VP seat isn't exactly something to scoff at. Especially since he's next in line should something happen to the “P.” Ultimately, it's for you to decide. My opinion? My German Shepherd would be a better president than Kill-liary Clinton. And, if that's the case, Gary Johnson is also a much better option.

So, you’ve had plenty of time to research, what is Pence position on the 2nd amendment? You are quick to attack the Libertarian party for the VP candidate’s position but I have yet to see an article about the Republican VP’s positions.

We aren’t attacking anybody. And based on the preliminary research conducted on Pence’s position of the 2nd Amendment, he looks solid. But you’re right. To be fair, I’ll write up another article about where he stands on guns. Thanks for the comment.

A libertarian is someone who believes in the doctrine of free will. So please tell us again how he is not for the libertarian cause…
