Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0 Review

It should come as no surprise just how much I love Alien Gear's line of concealed carry holsters. They are my go-to company for all of my holster needs, and several of my friends have purchased from them based on my recommendation alone. Anyone who does, tells me that they won't wear anything else, and that this is the most comfortable holster they own. Personally speaking, no matter what I've tried in the past, I always end up going back to my AG holster, simply because of the versatility and comfort.

I mean, where else can you buy an IWB holster (that allows you to carry different weapons just by switching out the shell) that doesn't require any break in period? They come with an awesome warranty and cost less than 50 bucks. To be honest, though, there probably are some knock-offs by now

When I say that these holsters don't require any break in time to be comfortable, I mean it. From the time it is first put on, until it is taken off at night, this is the most comfortable holster I've ever used. Why? Well, there are a few reasons. First, they use a soft neoprene backing that goes up against your body, instead of a hard leather or plastic one.

Soft Neoprene Backing helps aid in comfort.

Second, the holster is totally adjustable for firearm position. This means that if you don't like the stock position, you can tilt it to the front or rear and bring it up or down until you find the sweet spot.

I've already reviewed the Cloak Slide and the Cloak Tuck 2.0, so when I received word that they released a new holster, I said “me want!”

Their latest addition to the family, the Cloak Tuck 3.0, is an excellent holster that is designed to keep your gun concealed and where you need it, until you need it to defend yourself. On its most basic level, it resembles the previous version. But, there are some significant differences that need to be mentioned up front, that forces the competition to up the ante even further.

Though the 2.0 holster is excellent, the new one addresses a lack of rigidity by inserting a spring steel core at the center. The steel is thin enough that it bends and forms to your body, but springs back once taken off. This allows the holster to still be comfortable, while capitalizing on strength and safety. They also hid the holster's nuts (think hardware) under the backing for a more comfortable fit.

The new look of the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0 holster, with its alien skin texture, doesn't add any function to the holster itself. And, because the holster sits in between your trousers and your tighty whiteys, nobody will ever see the new design but you. But, the alien skin is there, like it or not.

When you place your order, you have the option to choose the type of hardware you want on it. I went with the metal clips because they will accommodate a larger belt. But there are quite a few different ones to choose from, so make sure you check the option you want when you place your order.

Metal clip adjusted to the highest spot, actually lowers the holster to be deeply concealed.

Over all, this is an excellent product that is comfortable, made in the US of A with an awesome warranty that allows you to return defective parts and swap shells for life. Do I recommend this product to my friends and family? I most certainly do. And, I also recommend it to you, because while I can't guarantee that it will be the most comfy holster you've ever concealed a handgun in, I know that they guarantee it, and will give you your money back if not satisfied.

Made in USA with a thick changeable shell. See how dirty it is? That's because I plucked it out of my waistband to take pictures of it.

I have a carry permit. But having alot of trouble finding a holster for me. I am a small frame female. 105 lbs . Size 1 . A hip holster , even with a Ruger 22 . And I cannot sit comfortably. Back ..not an option. I have tried a shoulder holster , and one size DOES not fit all. Had my gun falling to the ground . I am looking for a holster for over my shoulders perhaps. So my gun is next to my ribs. It would be very easy to be over powered and have my gun pointed at me. It is not easy to conceal on a small frame .

I bought a Crossbreed Supertuck for $60 and thought it was a great holster until I wore it on a hot day (I’m a fat man 5 ft 10 inches and 220 lbs in Houston). My perspiration soaked right through the leather of the holster and started making a crust with the dust from my clothes all over my gun–not good! The Alien Gear holsters look like Crossbreed clones. Is there a water barrier built into the holsters? I bought a NateSquared (N82) one-hook holster at half the price of the Crossbreed, and I love it. It has a water barrier built into it, it is very comfortable (I wear it all day every day) and it is adjustable as well.

How about a holster for small women, like 5′ 2″ frame, 105 lbs, ? Want inside waistband if possible, like to see all choices. Sounds great. There are lots of us around and many more getting carry and conceal daily.
