YHM Model 57 XL Tactical Rifle
Today's assault rifles pride themselves with billet-crafted receivers in their design and construction, and Yankee Hill Machine was able to keep up with their own version of these rifles with the YHM Model 57 XL. I had a whole day of testing this gun a few years back and I didn't want to let go of it. It shoots flawlessly like I was holding something customed for my body and style of shooting. This YHM rifle has a striking appearance with its burnt bronze Cerakote finish, looking kickass and performs as a tactical weapon should.
This semi-automatic rifle has a 16-inch barrel and shoots 5.56mm, 6.8 SPC, and 300 Blackout calibers. It has a magazine capacity of 30 rounds and a drop-in 2-stage upgraded trigger. The front sights are YHM Q.D.S. hooded while the rear is flip-up. Stock features an adjustable Magpul CTR giving the rifle an overall weight of 7.2 lbs.
The time I had the opportunity to test the YHM model 57 XL, we spent around a few hundred rounds of 5.56 mm. It's amazing we did not experience any misfire, the gun simply fired until the last bullet. It rests perfectly in firing stance and shots accurately for about a hundred yards. The material this firearm is made of makes it very durable with Cerakote-finished receivers and handguard.
The rifle's exterior is protected by its Cerakote finish and its extra length gives adequate space for a forward grip. It also features QDS (Quick Deploy Sights) made of aircraft-grade aluminum that folds and gets into place by pressing a button. I also like its hi-tech new age appearance which matches the rifle's performance, though I almost couldn't believe it only operates in semi-automatic mode.
At around $2280, you have here a top notch tactical AR rifle. It works seamlessly as expected of what a tactical firearm is designed for and built with materials that make it last a lifetime. It's very reliable, I would pick this gun in a doomsday scenario as I don't want my weapon to die on me in a chase.
