Concealed Carry Methods

The best way to carry a concealed weapon depends on the gun owner. When it comes to concealed carry techniques, there is no method better than all the others.

It's always a matter of which manner of carrying and concealing your gun makes it the most comfortable and suitable for your everyday routine. It can be a little bit troublesome considering one's profession, body type, clothing, and certain factors which influence the way of carrying your firearm.

Here are different methods for gun owners to conceal their guns in everyday carry and defense.

1. Outside The Waistband

|

This method is commonly used by off-duty law enforcers. As the gun in the holster sits outside the belt, it's easy to spot the firearm when you have to lift your arm.

Though it's very comfortable, it's not really suggested for civilians with concealed carry guns.

2. Inside The Waistband

|

An IWB holster will easily conceal your firearm when worn correctly. It's a method wherein you slip the firearm between your pants and underwear with the shell facing outward.

The entire gun is covered by draping your shirt or tucking it over your firearm.

3. Ankle Holster

|

A gun in an ankle holster is extremely concealable. Nobody is going to think you have a gun down there, with nothing jabbing at your waist.

Though you may not be able to retrieve it quick enough to draw your gun in a gun fight.

4. Shoulder Holster

|

This method needs a jacket or something to wear over to conceal your gun. This works great if you're a professional driver spending most of your time in a seated position.

It's easier to draw your gun this way compared to pulling it out of your waistband.

5. Appendix Carry

|

Appendix carry is a great option for a medium or small sized gun. The gun sits right in the appendix and fairly concealable with an untucked shirt.

Your gun is easily accessible without printing your movements.

6. Concealed Carry Handbags

|

This method is typically for women who wear a lot more dresses. It's a bit difficult to utilize other methods of concealed carry if you can't wear your favorite holster with a dress.

Concealed carry purses are also available for your handgun to be easily accessible when necessary.

7. Thigh Holster

|

The thigh holster is great for concealing small frame revolvers for women who wear skirts and dresses. Obviously, this method is not suitable if the gun carrier wears pants.

It's difficult and time-consuming to access a firearm this way.

8. Bra Holster

|

This is another gun concealment perfect for women. There is no need to wear baggy clothing.

These concealed carry holsters are secured to the center of the bra, so when you need your gun, just pull out on the handle and you're ready to fire.

You should be able to picture out the type of concealment you prefer by now. Anyone can choose a certain method that suits them.

It's very important for your firearm to be well-hidden in certain situations. Like a robbery could get you in trouble if you're obviously carrying a gun.

You might just save a lot of people's lives if you carry yourself well.

I like appendix carry for compact 380 (PPK, Colt 380 Gov), but haven’t found my holster. Tried several IWB models, but they leave the handle jutting out so it prints thru all but the baggiest shirt. Not good for summer! Looking for a lightweight holster with positive cant that rides deep – so the handle sits parallel to and BEHIND the belt, and can’t jut. I’ve modeled this position without the holster (just stick it in there) and it’s comfortable sitting and walking – but of course, without the holster, the gun falls all the way through after a few minutes of active movement.

there are holsters “out There” that will do as you’re wishing. I know I saw one advertised a while back in USCCA magazine; there’s a clip that looks like a small cell-phone case, which attaches to the belt; this – when lifted up – raises the holster by means of a strap. The holster/gun is actually completely below the belt line. I’ve wanted to try it myself. This is one example of the principle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-hcS5hpMCM
