Concealed Carry Tips: What Responsible Gun Owners Should Know

The right to bear arms will always be a topic of debate. But that’s not what I’m arguing here. I'm here to talk about Concealed Carry.

That’s our God-given right as U.S. American citizens.

We can put people at ease a little by concealing our weapons. What they don’t know won’t hurt them. And of course, we won’t hurt them either, because we’re responsible gun carriers.

Most people who carry a CCW never actually have to use it. That’s because the only reason they would ever use it is in a life-threatening emergency to themselves or others.

Nonetheless, having this CCW does make them feel safer, and they like preparing for the worst.

Part of preparing for the worst includes knowing how to properly handle your weapon. While in use, and while not in use.

Please always be responsible. Here are 5 of the best of our concealed carry tips.

1. Practice Wearing It

Always take it for a test run so you can get used to it. Wear it around the house before going out in public.

This includes practicing sitting, standing, walking, and using the restroom with your holster on. If you can’t do any of these maneuvers, the concealed carry holster is not right for you, or you need more practice.

2. Stop Fussing

Fussing is one of the concealed carry things to avoid. Your gun might be hidden, but you’re fiddling so much that you’re giving it away.

Don’t make this common mistake and let the holster do its business.

A constant tugging at your shirt or feeling for the gun will reveal it’s there… Most people don’t think twice about this sort of thing.

And most people don’t search for a hidden gun on someone, it’s just not something that crosses there mind.

3. Practice Using Your Gear

Just like I mentioned in Tip 1, if you can’t wear it effectively, you shouldn’t wear it. Likewise, practice using your weapon and how to properly carry a concealed handgun.

Getting it in and out of the holster effectively, and actually using the weapon.

You must be able to use it and feel comfortable using it if you plan on actually wearing it out in public. Or else – what’s the point?

4. Keep Practice and Real Life Separate

You’ve practiced a dry fire round, hold off on loading up the gun and going about your day. Give yourself a mental rest.

You want to keep a distinguished difference between carrying your loaded weapon vs practicing with it unloaded.

5. Do Not Act Like You Have a Gun

Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let them know. Walking around hyper-suspicious will not help you in your situation.

If you are indeed concealing a weapon, I am assuming you are doing so in a state where this is legal, with that being said, there is no need to feel paranoid. You are not breaking any laws.

Do not feel guilty, walk with confidence and care. You have a lethal weapon on you, and you will use it if (and only if) there is an emergency.

Be proud, you are an American citizen who has the right to do this. People will notice if you feel uncomfortable. Be your natural self.
