New Gun Laws In Hawaii Add Owners To Federal Database

Hawaii just recently became the stupidest state in the country, which is really a shame based on the sheer beauty of the place alone. Sadly, I've never been there and it looks like I never will unless the lawmakers there get their heads out of their asses. I won't hold my breath out of fear of dying from lack of oxygen because at this point it's not looking good for the health of Hawaiian gun owners.

As our friends from Absolute Rights reported, they just passed some stringent laws down in the Aloha State that will put gun owners on a list. Actually, it's more of a federally managed database that reports back to Hawaii if you commit a crime in any other part of the country. For example, if you fly to Kentucky and commit a crime, accidentally or otherwise, the FBI will notify Hawaii who will then be able to revoke your ability to own guns if they feel it is necessary.

No doubt, those are some ridiculously strong laws (which also happen to be illegal, so we'll see how it works out). Something that they seem to forget, or never knew, is that there are millions of gun owners in this country. If law abiding gun owners were actually a problem, they'd have figured it out by now.

Another alarming law that was just passed is the simple fact that people there would be prohibited from ever buying a gun if they were deemed mentally unstable.

Now, I don't' want to get into a debate about which mental conditions make it okay to own a gun or not (not at this moment, anyway). But, what I do want to point out, is that if you're ever put on that mental list, the police can seize your guns and ammo, as well as prohibit you from buying any more. Just so you know, I'm about to put my tinfoil hat on, so if I start to sound a little nutty, you'll know why.

First, who gets to say which mental illnesses are worthy of taking away someone's Constitutional rights? I mean, what if I dip into a slight state of depression after my favorite niece's pet hamster dies? What if, after she gets a new hamster, I'm totally fine and the depression is over. But, what if I already talked to a psychologist about it and it slipped out that I like to go target shooting on the weekend? Does that psychologist, not even being a real doctor, get to put me on some sort of list because of a slight state of depression?

Which brings me to my second point: who puts me on the list of mental illnesses? Would I have to see a shrink? Or, is my general practitioner worthy enough to put me on that list once they learn that I own a gun? As I pointed out above, does the person even need to be a doctor?

Either way, these laws passed the vote, and will become law unless the people stand up to fight it. They would have some legal ground to stand on if they do, because a federally managed list isn't legal in America according to the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986 (FOPA). It's long and drawn out, but basically states that what Hawaii just did, cannot be done. If you want the exact terminology used, give the FOPA a read.

We are on a dangerous and slippery slope here, my friends. We are at a fork in the road, if you will. A time is coming when this may be the norm, and it seems like every day, our Constitutional rights are being challenged. They don't complain when they use their First Amendment right of free speech to attack the very right which protects it (otherwise known as the Second Amendment).

The Second protects the rest of our laws and keeps people in check. It isn't just for hunting. It isn't just for self-defense. Dare I say its original intent was actually to keep the government at bay? It was designed to keep the government from doing exactly what it is doing right now as it oppresses a free people. Last time, we went to war over a 3% tax hike on tea. This time, we're soft and will let anything ride, or so it currently seems.

Troy A Newman look at Chicago. They have the strictest gun laws in the country and the highest gun related homicides. How does that make any sense? What are the gun laws accomplishing?

Let’s blame main-stream media and people who listen to it for the ignorance of our need to protect our constitutional rights. Yeah, I suddenly do not want to vacation in Hawaii. I feel safer knowing a few people in the crowd may be concealed permit carriers, since I do not want the responsibility to carry a gun…. The government should not have the right to take away our guns for any reason, until a crime is committed. Nice argument above. For those who are liberal… Learn a bit of history. WWI Treaty took away all the guns of the Germans. Hitler’s soldiers, at first had no guns. They practiced marching with brooms. Then they managed to get them and murder the law-abiding citizens at will, mainly the Jews. Genocide has happened in many other countries too. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_genocides_by_death_toll .

Gun registration in the UK began several decades ago and gradually increased to the present day, where even reproduction muzzleloaders are subject to police permission and licence. Original muzzleloaders, such as Civil War cap ‘n’ ball revolvers, are not (yet) licensed, though occasionally a political dimwit will recommend deactivating them. We have access to firearms where the ammo’ is deemed obsolete, i.e. ‘not readily available”. .44WCF and .45-70 cartridges are deemed “readily available, for some obscure reason, we Brits are informed, so are licensed and registered under a description and serial number.

Similarly, .303British calibre rifles are also subject to licencing. The word ‘antique’ is not recognised under the UK Firearms Act. I am custodian of a Winchester Model 1886 produced in 1891 – the police gave me permission to acquire it; it is registered.

Handguns? My competition .22 semi-autos and a WW1 Colt New Service, purchased in 1915 by the Colonel I bought it from, were seized after the Dunblane Scottish school massacres in 1996. The EU is trying to ban my Ruger 10/22. Criminals still have modern weapons “on the streets”! Brocock air cartridge (lead pellet) were made too difficult to own unless licensed.

The original Bill of Rights – the one the USA used for your Constitution – has been ignored through the centuries since 1689; the right giving members of parliament protection from slander still stands. Our Firearms Act is a dog’s dinner of a mess.

    You think you have problems!

One assumes that the creatures in law making office were duly elected by the people of that state.

The only purpose to gun registration is confiscation. NEVER register your firearm.

Libtards think writing on paper criminal’s actions. They’re delusional.

The more we allow the government to impede and violate our laws and Rights granted by the Constitution the weaker we become as a Frr People. With this mindset how much longer do we think we will repain a Free People?

I am never going to Hawaii. Can’t fly there with my EDC, and can’t drive there to bring my weapon. A boat is out of the question.
Last year, I drove to California because I couldn’t fly with my firearm legally. So, I drove 2500 miles, and took my chances. I just happened to be there when Kate Stienley? was shot, and believe it or not, I was supposed to go to the San Fran sicko water front that morning, but my wife had computer work to finish and we arrived in late afternoon.
If my weapon is not welcome, neither is my wallet. Boycott Hawaii I say.

I left a very long comment and I don’t wanna write it all over again. So, I’ll just say this, thee is a lot of hate here. Not everyone in Hawaii is a liberal. Think about what you say.

It is way past time for the American Public to wake up! Doesn’t everyone see what is happening in this country? Big Pharma, the nasty rich, and the millionaire politicians are pretty much running things. Government by the people is now and has been a thing of the past. Most all have consigned themselves to just scraping by. Oh, yes everyone bitches, moans, and complains, but DO NOTHING to try to fix the mess we are in. Here is how I stand on guns- if they want mine, they will have to pry them from my cold dead hands. That came from Charlton Heston, my NRA friend and brother!

Progressive “scientists” do not care what you or I think. As some brain-dead editor of the Harvard Crimson wrote a few years ago, Conservative ideas should not be given space in their “newspaper” because Liberals had already won the political argument. In other words, free speech no longer exists, and newspapers are justified in operating as propaganda sheets for their Socialist wet dreams. If free speech does not exist, surely you don’t need the Second Amendment to protect it. As far as law abiding citizens are concerned, the Left doesn’t really believe such a thing exists, which is not surprising considering their constituencies. Orwell’s prophecy have come true as we are inundated with “news-speak” and the Kardashians.

I was in the planning stage (fixing to order flight reservations, booking a hotel) so I could take my kids, grandkids, and my wife on what I thought would be a great family vacation, to Hawaii, their would only be 10 of us going.

After hearing about the unlawful passing of the new law, taking guns without due process, I will not take the family on this planned vacation. I guess another lucky state will get our business.

Oh well, they (Hawaii, businesses, including hotels, restaurents, car rental agencies, tourists shops, and yes sadly the jewelry and clothing stores) probably won’t miss our family, or my money, but another state will appreciate the money we will spend in their State!
