Bucket List of Guns to Fire Before You Croak

Love for Guns

What's on your bucket list? Some people want to see the Eiffel Tower and the Great Pyramids, while the more adventurous types want to jump out of a perfectly stable airplane or ride a bull.

I'm all for sightseeing and taking risks, but what it's all about for me are the small things in life…small things like .308 and 6.5 CM. Ah, guns.

Well, the first “gun” on my list below ain't exactly small. Here are bucket list ideas for men who love to pull the trigger.

1. MK 19 Grenade Launcher

|

Fully automatic anything is fantastic. But, when you have the ability to lob grenades downrange at the rate of super-freakin' fast, it's sure to bring a smile to your face. What makes it even better is you can actually watch each round travel downrange and explode when it hits the target.

This is my absolute favorite machine gun from my time in the Marines. It's easy to see why.

Though, finding one for you to shoot would be a hard task. Still, if anyone ever asks if you want to shoot an MK19, jump through whatever hoops you need to in order to make it happen.

Talk about some dangerous things to do for fun.

2. M2 Machine Gun

|

Of course, this list wouldn't be complete without the legendary Ma Deuce.

You'll have an easier time finding one of these to shoot than you will with the grenade launcher. But, you'll likely only see one at a machine-gun shoot.

From my experience, having shot one on multiple occasions from the ground and mounted atop an HMMWVA2 (Humvee), I can say there is no greater power than being behind the trigger of such a devastating weapon. Take my word for it.

3. Colt Python

|

Say what? A revolver made your bucket list?

Well, yeah. Isn't it on yours?

I'm not just talking about it because it is the sidearm of choice of the star of everyone's favorite zombie apocalypse show. The price of a Python alone causes them to be a highly sought after piece of machinery nobody shoots anymore.

Who wants to pay that much money for a gun and then wreck it by doing something stupid? Well, I do!

For one (not the “wrecking it” part, just shooting it), I'd shoot mine…a lot. Plus, they are absolutely beautiful!

4. Garand

|

The way things were done back in the day was flawless. Granted that technology has allowed us to come as far as we have, I'm sure you've heard the saying:

“They just don't make things like they used to.” Well, the saying is true.

This is THE rifle that helped win a war with a ton of history behind it. This rifle effectively took bolt-action guns out of circulation and is an absolute gem at the range.

5. Coonan Classic

I just finished testing one of these out, and the review for it can be found here. If you don't love the 1911 platform, you at least have respect for it.

And, I've never met anyone who didn't think the .357 magnum is the ultimate in self-defense. When the two are married, it's a match made in heaven.

I can say from my time of a few months with one, they are so much fun to shoot. Literally, each time you press the trigger button, the cannon shoots a two-foot ball of flame from the barrel.

Each time I brought it to the range, it helped me start a conversation because everyone had to know what it was.

6. Uber Long Distance Rifle

|

I'm talking about something chambered in a big round when you just need to reach out and touch your target…like a mile (or longer) away. You'll need a rifle chambered .338 Lapua (minimum), or better yet a .50BMG with a scope that costs just as much as, if not more than, the gun it sits on.

What's the point? Well, when you need to take the rotation of the earth, wind, rain, and drop into the calculation in order to hit your target, it's exhilarating.

Of course, each steady squeeze of the trigger blasts a $5 bill out of the barrel. But whoever said fun times would be inexpensive?

7. MP5

|

The ones you can buy are licensed clones and they're also great, but that's not what I'm talking about here. I'm talking about a selective-fire MP5 that goes both semi-auto and full out cray-cray.

You could buy a pre-ban MP5, but you'll pay for it. I mean, you could buy a gently used Corvette for that much money. But, hey if you've got the cash, why not?

8. Anything Flintlock

|

We've come such a long way from the firearms of old. It's good to not let history slip through our fingertips.

In the wonderful world of firearms, flintlock takes us back to the 17-1800s. These were the guns used when America won her freedom from the Brits starting back in 1775.

If you can ever safely fire a Brown Bess or other firearms from the era, do it, because you may never get the opportunity again.

9. IWI Tavor X95

Yeah, I had to include at least one BullPup. I had the pleasure of shooting this bad boy at SHOT Show Media Day at the range in 2016, and it was a blast.

Even more so because I don't have much time behind the trigger of the bullpup design.

Of course, by the time range day was done, I was exhausted, and that video was the very last firearm I shot. If you get the chance, do it!

TFB TV shows a video of his top 10 guns to shoot before you die:

So that's my bucket list of guns and entertainingly crazy dangerous things to do with them. There are quite a number of guns out there so our lists might differ from one another.

But either way, make it a point to shoot these bad boys before you croak. So what are you waiting for?

Come up with your own bucket list now and don't forget to follow through!
