After the Orlando Terror Attack, I had the displeasure of speaking to a few anti-gunners and debunking some of their perpetuated AR-15 myths. Read through to know how I handled the situation!

The AR-15 Myths Debated and Debunked

Assault on the AR-15 and the 2nd Amendment

Well, it didn't take long for the liberal media (and public) to twist the shoot out of the terror attack in Orlando, Florida on June 12, 2016. There is so much idiocy happening out there right now, I almost don't even know who to start on first.

I mean, we've got people blaming the guns and screeching for more gun-control, some news sources even calling this terror attack a “mass-shooting”. Only a few places focus on the real issues at hand—and there are a lot of them.

But first, the AR-15

I've had the pleasure (or lack thereof) of dealing directly with some extremely anti-gun folks since the terrorist began shooting. They all seem to have one thing in common: A huge dislike and misunderstanding of the rifle known simply as AR-15.

Below, I typed out a Facebook conversation I had with someone concerning the AR-15. In the name of anonymity, I'll leave the person's name out of it because we are related. I'll simply call her Auntie (for hopefully obvious reasons). Auntie's words will appear in italics, and mine will appear in bold.

AR-15 Debate

She Says

It's not taking guns away from good people. That is what the NRA wants you to believe! It's banning ASSAULT WEAPONS!!

The general public does not need ASSAULT WEAPONS for protection. ASSAULT WEAPONS are used by the MILITARY to kill enemies of our country in times of WAR!

We, the general public are not at war with our fellow man! IT IS A WEAPON OF WAR, NOT A WEAPON OF SELF PROTECTION.

WE HAD A BAN ON ASSAULT WEAPONS, BUT BUSH DID AWAY WITH IT! THE NRA SPEAKS LOUDER ALL THE TIME, BUT NOT FOR YOU, FOR THE GUN MANUFACTURERS! BIG MONEY!!

And, oh yes, just what we need, MORE GUNS!! MORE IDIOTS, WITH MORE ASSAULT WEAPONS! YES, THAT'S THE ANSWER!

It wasn't an illegal purchase! He was on the radar and was allowed to purchase anyway…

..He was on the radar, but he was allowed to buy anyway. It's RIDICULOUS, isn't it? So many people's died. It's so sad.

There has to be something which can be done. I agree we should not have to sacrifice our own protection. They have to band THESE ASSAULT WEAPONS. They kill too many people at once. We don't need them.

That's it for that part. I'm very angry right now and feel my blood boiling like a mo-fo.

Here Was My Response

Here we go. Always go to the gun, not the sicko behind it.

There is no such thing as an assault weapon. That is a term made up by the liberal media to incite fear into the masses.

These guns were originally designed by civilians, for civilian use. The military simply adopted it because it was cheap. (There were plenty of other reasons too, but I didn't want to cause confusion).

People use them to hunt, go target practicing, and in defense of their houses. Granted, nobody is going to carry a rifle around for self-defense, but I know plenty of decent people who have them handy if some criminal breaks into their house to rape their wife or daughter. (This is totally true. An AR-15 makes a good home defense tool. This is especially true if you are recoil sensitive towards shotguns).

I own an AR-15, and I support the NRA. I suppose that makes me your (and Hillary's) enemy.

Oh, and I suppose it makes me an idiot. It's fine, no skin off my ass. (All truth. Remember, Hillary said freedom-loving American's and Republicans are her enemies. Clearly, I'm also an enemy of dear old Auntie).

I know where I stand and am still willing to give my own life in defense of yours, and every other American in this country. (I just threw this in there so she'd remember who I am, and was willing to sacrifice for freedom.)

Oh, and if you ever feel like selling your little revolver, I may be in the market for one. (Ha! Yes, she owns a revolver. I put this in there just so everyone reading would know she was a flaming hypocrite!)

She Responded

Well then, you should know they are ILLEGAL for hunting…

I find it interesting, I just ripped her a new one and that is her sole response.

I Debunked

In some states, they are illegal for hunting based solely on the caliber of the bullet. There also may be some states who put restrictions on hunting with semi-autos.

It's hard to know all the laws for all 50 states… (I wanted to say that the caliber was too small to hunt certain animals, but that would've confused her more.)

To Which She Responded

Plus, we will never really know how we feel about the whole issue unless we are personally affected. Having a child or loved one killed needlessly by a sick, mental person with an ASSAULT WEAPON!

I will always call it an Assault Weapon because that's what it is! It is used for assaulting and killing an enemy, usually by the MILITARY. No matter who invented it…

The AR-15 Is Not an Assault Riffle

If there is one thing ever learned, it's when presented with facts, anti-gunners still won't believe you, as Auntie proved here. No matter what, she will always call it an ASSAULT WEAPON!

It doesn't matter what the original gun was used for, who it was made for, what the AR actually stands for, or anything else they want to believe.

To further your knowledge, in case you are new to this, AR does not stand for “assault rifle.” In fact, it is simply an abbreviation of the company who developed the rifle, Armalite.

We also need to keep in mind most people think these are weapons of mass destruction, with one thing in mind–killing. Of course, we all know that an inanimate object cannot kill something on its own… It takes a nut job.

My Last Take

I didn't get into the debate of how he purchased the gun. In all fairness, I'm still forming my opinions on the matter. He was investigated twice by the feds.

The way the current system works is it is meant to find past criminal activities and isn't a fortune teller. In other words, background checks, while effective, cannot predict the future.

Is it a good enough reason to put a ban on “assault rifles?” Hell no. There are far more reasons why I need an AR-15 than there is it for me to give it up.

Watch this video from The Daily Wire as Michael Knows points out and debunk more AR-15 myths:

Again, this was just one of the conversations I had over the weekend. I'm sharing it with you because it is imperative you have a response for these people when they begin to attack our rights.

The right to bear arms shall not be infringed. Period!
